All snaps from Tec Petaja

I'm not sure how many of you have PO boxes, but I'm going to let you in on a little secret. It's like Christmas. All year round. Like potluck, but less meaty, more posty. And when I get a little card that says I have a package waiting inside for me? Gosho. Let's just say there's polite shoving involved to get inside to see what's waiting for me. And yes. I am the youngest child.

So I wanted to wait until December before I started getting super excited (and poor) at the prospect of so many lovely stores, but alas, one caught my eye yesterday as I was manically sourcing and I thought it only nice for me to share. Also, their Christmas decorations are very sweet and jump started my Christmas fever, much like the glandular fever, but in a more peppy fashion. So woo for Christmas!!
One day, as I was walking along the cracked and speckled footpath, I felt something land on my shoulder. I swiped at it, as I was feeling blue, and did not want a nuisance in falling foliage. But again, I felt something soft gently settle on my shoulder. At the same time, something landed on my brown crazy curls, and got caught in the blue leather of my handbag. As I kept my eyes down, brimming with tears, I tried to reason. Perhaps I had walked under a shedding tree, but there were no trees along this isolated road. Perhaps I was caught in a mini whirlwind which was picking up school yard debris and letting it settle on my tightly wrapped green jacket. But there was not a whiff of breeze. I tried to soothe my aching heart with the kind of upbeat words friends use to bring back a smile, but the bruising only deepened. It was only as I lifted my gloved hand to my cheek that I noticed something strange. It hadn't been leaves falling from the sky, nor muddy debris picked up of the ground. It hadn't been the raindrops that had been threatening to fall from the sky only moments before. I reached out my hand in front of me, slowing to a stop by a brightly coloured swing set. They were love hearts. Falling on me. Hundreds, thousands, falling just on me. Some small, some bigger, all falling like the first snowflakes of the season. Everything was muted in the afternoon sounds, and as I paused, for just one moment, covered in hearts in shades of ruby, cerise, raspberry, merlot, scarlet, blush and cherry, I was happy. Everything was simple. For love had found me. In my sorrow, in my pain, in all my perceived loneliness, it had sought me. Hunted for me. Pursued me. And when it had found me, instead of berating me for loosing faith, it covered me with a softness, with colour, with beauty. And it gave me hope.Image via le love

Somewhat like my day today. Well. Not really. At all. I don't work anywhere near revolving doors. Precisely because this kind of thing can happen. And I learnt early on to avoid such mechanics as this kind of thing, which would not happen to many people, is almost guaranteed to happen to me. Anyhoodle. Have you ever felt like you're having an out of body experience, floating high above, looking down and yelling 'GET OUT! RUN! BEFORE IT GETS WORSE!'. Unfortunately my fight or flight instincts have never been on par with 'normal' and I find myself frozen like a deer stuck in headlights whenever an awkward situation arises. And today was a biggie. Let's just say it involved a moustache, inappropriate comments, and a birthday frisbee. Enough said, really.

All the details are absolutely gorgeous which we lurve for Summer, as with all the soft floaty fabrics and prints. Perfect for Summer garden parties, le wedding, your next cocktail function or the grocery shopping*! Next time you pop into their super lovely Paddington boutique, feel free to send me one of their lovely frocks. I'm not fussy. Any will do. I'll thank you with my eternal gratitude. Not too shabby eh?!
Don't be shy, swing by the Rose & Ruby store at 5 William St, Paddington, or have a sneak peek online at their super sweet frocks.
*Not really. Unless you shop in a super fancy Woolies that has carpeted aisles and friendly leprechauns that push your trolleys. In which case I'd say maybe you're having an Irish themed grocery dream and should wake up immediately, lest the small green men try and force mountains of tatties in your trolley, which would just be inconvenient.

Having been sent through the new catalogue from Kikki K I have decided that my family and friends will be receiving one for Christmas. Pretty AND within my budget. Am loving that they have made it so gorgeous, and have shot Kristina grew up! Question! Why did she leave?! So beautiful! Although am very pleased she did, as her lovely notebooks and stationery grace my desk as 'important work items', also focussing on the very important work task of 'making my desk look pretty'.

Because I'm just a little bit excited about that fact that Tec Petaja is not only an incredibly and super talented photographer, but also a super lovely guy, I thought to myself I'd throw caution into the wind and post his snaps instead of our regular beauty post. I know. I walk on the edge.
