I feel an exhibition coming on...

If you've been with us from the beginning (hi mum!), you'll remember the beautifully saturated polaroids Christian Wright lovingly sent us. You may also remember we call him Pat. Important detail. Unless I'm confusing important with insignificant. Anyway. Exciting news! He's throwing a soiree! Tis called A Family Feast, and the best bit? I do believe there'll be some feasting!

Ok ok, so the best bit will be the beautiful shots you'll get to feast (geddit?!) your bright little eyes on. And just to raise the excitment bar a notch more, his new book will be launching on the same night! I know I know, my socks are off too. So get down (or up, depending on where you're coming from) to IKU at 62 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst on Thursday October 1st (exhibition runs all October) from 6pm for a night full of beautiful snaps and tasty snacks.

And also? How beautiful is this wedding!? xx

Friday (because it's almost the weekend) beauty spot...on Monday!

Perhaps this post should be renamed 'this is the kind of style I try to pull of everyday, but when Alexa Chung ends up looking all cool and nonchalant and well, hot, I end up looking either like a drunken sailor or like I forgot to put my pants on, which is just not ideal'. And let's face it, that wouldn't be very catchy. So I'm on the hunt for a skirt like this, not in a Twilight hunting way, GOODness no, but more in a 'now that I'm looking for it I'm sure I won't find it' kind of way. Lot's of apostrophy's. Awesome.

And I'm not sure about you, but I was always of the opinion that says chunky heels like these ones above would always look terrible. Doesn't matter who's wearing them, just. Don't. Go. There. And then what does Miss Alexa do? She makes them look all cool and normal. My goodness she's good. I imagine having a limitless supply of lovely handbags would make your day a pinch more fun too. Mine is literally falling apart at the seams. It's embarrassing. Quite embarrassing. And see now, how much more fun I would have if I leapt out of bed looking all lovely like (I'm sure she does, I can see it in her eyes...), and instead of figuring which way to carry my bag so the worst bit is under my arm, I could simple say 'Chanel!' or 'Chloe!', and little bluebirds would flit over and place the chosen bag on my arm. I'm sure that's how it happens...

And seeing as how this is supposed to be a beauty post (you may or may not be picking up on this, but I'm not a beauty editor. Shocking, I know...), I thought I would point out (helpful!) that in every photo here Al has worn her hair differently. And still looks incredible in every one! I think my fav is the short hair, blunt fringe combo. If I try to wear my hair in a centre part I tend to look like a man, so it's generally something I steer clear of. And as I am growing out my fringe for Summer in the effort to steer clear of a little something I like to call 'wonky beach fringe', it seems only right that I would be bombarded with images of good looking fringes right when mine is at it's difficult stage. You know, won't put it's dishes away. That kind of thing.

Um, yeah, I don't really have much to say here. If I could pull of a dress like that I would get 15 made and wear them constantly. Somewhat like that chicky that's wearing the same tunic for a year with different accessories. Except this may be a little more exxy. Meh. If I looked like that? Totally worth it.

And just so that we can relax knowing that something was said about beauty in the er, beauty post, here is a lovely little close up! Weeeee! This people, this right here is the exact lip colour/stain/whatever that I have been looking for. I heart it. And thrown in with her rosy cheeks, flawless complexion, goldy brown and black eyes, it looks amazing. Very 'I had fifteen minutes to get ready and I'm looking HOT because I did not try one smidge'. Why is it that the no makeup look uses lots of makeup to achieve? What kind of cruel game are the makeup folk playing!? And I would like to know if it involves chocolate. The chocolate game was never cruel to me...

Let's enjoy some postponing fun!

Ok. So things have gone a little bit like when you decide to make a really yummy cake, and spend ages picking out the perfect ingrediants, organic this, ripe and smelling like perfection that, and there are loads of steps to this recipe, and you painstakingly work through each one, and as you go to pour this delicious batter into the tin, the bowl slips and smacks onto the floor, shattering and ruining the perfect-est cake.

Or like when you decide to make a smoothie, with only the yummiest ingrediants, yummy fruit, yogurt and icecream (they balance each other out), and all the extra things smoothie know-its know to put in smoothies, and when you hit the blend button you realise you haven't put the lid on and you end up with a fruity smelling ceiling.

You know? So our 'Friday (because it's almost the weekend) beauty spot' has been postponed until Monday, but make sure you pop back, because it will involve Alexa Chung, and she's cool. Like a banana.

Perfect paper pretties

Now, apart from discussing how I should win awards due to my awesome alliteration (still going...), I would also like to discuss how beautiful these invites are. Made by the super talented and super lovely Emmy at EmmyRose specially to be viewed by YOU! And er, the people they were made for. I will put some more up a little later in a different post, because my GOSH there are so many beautiful ones to choose from. But for now, let's just sit back in our office chair/couch/milk crates and delight our little peepers with these lovely invitations. And the last one? Sweetness in spades! My goodness the alliteration is STILL going! I wonder if alliteration competitions exist? Kind of like Spelling Bee's. But, you know, cooler. Imagine the possiblities! Or should I say, PONDER the possibilities! I'll stop.

EmmyRose's gorgeous website shall be upsies and running soon http://www.emmyrose.com.au/ but if you're desperate to get your mitts on some of their designs try this link emmy@emmyrose.com.au. It's an email. Technology these days...

Makes me giggle

Well. It's more of a snort than a giggle. A sniggle, if you will.

Cushions for the kiddies

Some very sweet Bluebird and Honey pretties that I wanted to share with you my dear readers. Mainly because I have a new little niece who is hands down the cutest baby ever (don't argue with me, tis my blog, I will win) and I am personally funding the global economy back out of something I will refer to as the "black hole of greed" to avoid mentioning the GFC (damn.) with my present buying, but also because pink and red together make me happy.

To sum up.
My niece - cutest ever.
Pink and red - topso.
Bluebird and Honey - Clever muffins.

A key to my heart

Now, as per previous post, I've never been one to wear bling-y jewellery, or really, jewellery of any type. Clearly this is null and void when Tiffany's comes into play (CLEARLY!), especially with these lovely little keys here. Now, obviously these aren't *actual* keys to anyone's heart, least of all mine, just in case you're head over heels in love with me, have tried everything to capture my attention, and are considering a key as a last resort. A likely situation. Although, who am I kidding, it would probably open my heart a little. Just not in the literal sense. I'm not even sure most hearts have keyholes in them these days. Shocking I know.

I've included the top picture just to give you a sense of how a Tiffany key would look on you, should you be brunette, brown eyed and in a studio with a hair and makeup team. These things are important you know. The visualisation. Concept visualisation. Specially as it's not jewellery, it's 'a piece'.
I've decided my fav is the heart shaped plain one. So if you're thinking this is your last chance to win my heart, and have read this post (again, likely), and excitedly skipped off in a manly fashion to purchase the heart shaped Tiffany key? When we next meet, and you decide it's now or never? Don't jam it into my chest hoping it will unlock my heart to you. It won't go as planned. Trust me.

Not. Literal.

And while we're looking at pretty pictures...

Real Weddings

Joanna and Brandon's beautiful wedding, photographed by the super talented Stephanie Williams. All the details are simply gorgeous! The colours and the textures...and the dress! SO pretty! Now, this may shock you (don't sit down, it's not THAT shocking...), but I've never been too fussed on having a diamond ring. Don't wear much jewellery anyway, and am tres picky. But. Um. I could work with this.

Weekend fun

When I'm between client meetings and site visits, I work hard. Real hard.

Market finds...

My mum always talks about how she stresses when she buys me things becaue my taste is really hard to pick. This may be true *cough*, however I will ALWAYS graciously accept gifts from hither and thither with a happy smile on my face! I'm pretty nice like that. But last week she came home from Manly markets and told me she'd bought a wee presie for me which of course sent me into convulsions of excitement. Well, not convulsions, that's a little violent. But I was pretty enthusiastic re the whole 'present' sitch. So anyway, she pulls out a dusty old plastic bag, and inside are loads of vintage cotton reels and lace! Excitement!!! I think she thought I was a little odd to be so excited about cotton reels and lace, but heck. She's my mum. If anyone is allowed to think I'm weird, I'm ok with it being her...

Friday (because it's almost the weekend) beauty spot!

So I've learnt orange is a little bit of a scary colour. I'm thinking it's pretty safe to say stay away from anything that resembles a highlighter mix pack from Officeworks, but from previous experience, if you stick to more of a Derwent Studio palette, it can go ok. I had a triumph (yes, a triumph) a few weeks back when I went to a wedding and decided to, wait for it, do something different with my eye makeup. Crazy, I know. But I had some eye colour from The Makeup Store (in ruby!) which was a wholly frightening colour purchased on a whim when I had decided I probably had enough gold-y neutral-y shadows to make up an entire model army from fashion week. Anyway, while I spent the night living on the edge with my ruby eyeshadow (the excitement never stops), I thought firmly to myself 'I should wear orange, or at least coloured makeup, much more often! More fun! More excitement! More canapes!'. I do enjoy a good canape. But as fervent as my mini soliloquy was I've not gone colour-rific since. SO! When I saw this piccy of the chicky above, I thought to myself, 'Why does she have what appear to be two nails sticking out the side of her head?', and also, 'I love her lippy!'. No idea what brand/label/colour it is, so really, am not being helpful at all, and am no closer to my dream of finding a lippy that actually suits. But helpful is not what we're on about here! GOSH no! Waffle. And top quality waffle at that!

January Jones
And if you read primped.com at all, you will know that they (and approximately 72.6% of women in the Sydney metropolitan area) are experiencing something akin to obsession over Mad Men and January Jones. So groomed and glamourous! So classic and elegant! It's quite handy for us too, as Jan here seems to love sticking with said groomed-ness in her every day (award ceremony) life! She's so nice like that, our Jan. Orange-y cheeks, orange-y lips, lovely liquid liner. It's almost as if she knew...

Another wearable option. Thank goodness such classic styles are making a comeback. The best bit? They suit absolutely everyone! You should try it. It'll bring our your eyes.

Tulips in teacups...pretty!

So my photos are not that great. I have a film SLR that I love wth all my heart, and I feel all arty and, you know, cool, when I'm taking photos. But what I see in my head just doesn't often come out on film. Like in my mind? I'm thinking Donna Hay with a touch of Frankie, but what comes out is often a confusing mix of 1970's Woman's Weekly and year 11 photography classes. Anyway. I simply couldn't let these beautiful tulips in my Granny's teacups (plus the rogue anemones) slip away unremembered. I'm sentimental. I'm tired. I get sentimental when I'm tired. Also? Sarah Blasko - Perfect Now? Tops song to have on repeat when you're working through the night.

Was also at the international departures today. Have requested gift. New Hugo Boss Orange with smackings of duty free, thankyou kindly! And fingers crossed for some orange leather gloves from the streets of Italy. I may never experience the optimal weather conditions for leather glove wearing, but if I ever had to rush to Alaska on a business trip of high and confidential importance (possible), you can bet my sweet citrus-y gloves would be in flung in my much too large weekend bag with gay abandon!

I'm off to eat my body weight in chocolate. Wish me luck!

I don't look pretty when I sleep. Believe me.
But who knows. Love makes you blind, right? xx

Giambattista Valli dresses. Possibly the most beautiful ever. Just saying...

Ok so yes. These dresses are huge. And pouffy. And meringue-y. All things I'm not such a huge fan off. Probably because if I were to wear something that was as wide as it was high I would look like I'd fallen into several bed sheets and somehow walked in front of a huge fan. Volume. And the kind of volume that is not so much appreciated by moi. But here? Like this? From the fantastically talented designer Giambattista Valli? I heart them. Very much. The textures and the colours and the detail, it's all just so mind blowingly beautiful! It's almost like that dress Carrie falls asleep in when she's in Paris. Ah, for my life to be a movie. The constant music would be tops. And constantly looking good I would be ok with. But I'm fairly sure the wardrobe options would excite me the most. But I would pretend it didn't. You know, be all cool and such.
